Sivakumar Manoharan and Ronnie Shaddick are still leading the B Grade on 5 1/2 points. Both winning with black pieces against Paul Postma and Aiken Eliu respectively. They are followed by Simon Claxton and Dipendra Kc on 4 points. Unfortunately Simon has a 100% record when he has come but he has missed 3 rounds.

C GRADE

Harry Bong had the only win in the C Grade so he moves a point clear on 5 points. Harry is followed by Aiken Eliu on 4 points and Graeme Coleman on 3 1/2 points.

Sivakumar Manoharan lost to Aiken Eliu and Ronnie Shaddick’s win against Harry Bong allowed Ronnie to catch Siva on 4.5 points. Following at 3=, both with wins, is Simon Claxton and Dipendra Kc, on 4 points. Unfortunately Dipendra is out for the rest of the tournament on an overseas trip.

C GRADE

Aiken Eliu’s win (see above) brought him up to share the lead with Harry Bong on 4 points. Graeme Coleman won for the third week in a row to move into third on 3 points.

The Pauline Thomas Trophy – Junior 5 min Blitz Tournament

has just finished with a tie for 1st place between Arav [rating 551] and Hugh [rating 408],

closely followed by Lucy [rating 507] just one point behind.

Saif’s win puts him in the lead with 4 points and Katrine and John a half point behind in second equal.

B & C GRADE

In the B Grade Sivakumar Manoharan’s win over the top rated  Dipendra Kc saw Siva extend his lead on 4 1/2 points. Ronnie Shaddick’s win over Stefan Brzozowski saw him move into second place on3 1/2 points followed by Simon Claxton and Dipendra Kc on 3 points.

In the C Grade Harry Bong maintained his lead with a default win over Simon Claxton and is now on 4 points. Aiken Eliu’s win over Pauline Thomas and John McRae’s win over Vialli Eliu see them in second and third respectively. Aiken on 3 points and John on 2 1/2 points.

John Worn achieved a full point in the first 3 round but last night was beaten by Saif Ismail. Saif has not lost yet but has had two half point draws so John and Saif are leading on three points.

B & C GRADE

After last week Sivakumar, Stefan and Ronnie were leading the B Grade on 2.5 points each however Sivakumar beat Stefan this week and Ronnie lost to Simon. This left Siva leading on 3.5 points with Simon and Dipendra (who also had a win this week) half a point behind.

In the C Grade Harry had another good win against Vialli to propel him into leading the C Grade.

seems a lot of players kept forgetting there were 2 Rounds each night and ran away early,

 others who turned up late did not hear the reminder that  there were 2 rounds per night

and wandered off after their game. Also people did not mark their results on the draw sheet

or inform MR McRAE of who won – this held up the drawing of the next round.

The  PIF Clive Wilson Junior Spring Cup 2014 began on 27.8.2014 – a position is set up and everyone plays on from there – one game as White and one as Black – 2 Rounds per night for 6 Rounds over 3 nights.

This year all Juniors with a club rating of 425 or higher were withdrawn from the Tournament to give the lower rated players a chance at winning a cup.

Instead their games from JWK2014 were reviewed and a Lecture on Queen Pawn Openings and basic – King and Pawn v King endings  was given.

2nd = Arav Gaundar   4/5   new rating 551 [increase 12 points]

2nd = Joanna Lee        4/5  new rating  426 [increase 19 points]

B & C Grade

On the top boards Sivakumar Manoharan and Ronnie Shaddick continued to win full points and are leading with 2 points. They will probably clash in the next round. A big upset occurred on board 4 where Vialli Eliu defeated Nathan Horsefall however Vialli was originally under-rated so it will be interesting to see where he will end up. Vialli is also leading the C grade (he has already gained 58 rating points in two rounds).
